Harvest Festival

by Annie

Monroe Organic Farms’ Harvest Festival was a couple of weekends ago, and Jeremy got to make his first visit to the farm. We had good food and got to see see several things for the first time- the farm’s cold storage pits, the apple cider press, the pop corn shucker, and the potato digger. There are so many different vegetables on the farm that I have not seen come out of the ground yet, so I enjoyed learning that beets grow near the surface, potatoes are easy to pick behind the digger, the sweetest strawberries are the ones the birds have sampled, and that fresh dill pods taste minty. Oh, and the apple cider was fabulous! Thanks for good times, Monroes!
